Hi Tom,

The phone will become (or already is) one big mobile video game. Just watch what happens when developers fully exploit the fact that a phone can tell you where you are, allow voice, take pictures, and even measure movement. Isn't that the ultimate console?
;)

Mark,

Thanks again for an insightful comment-- it's almost enough to turn it into its own post!
It seems that I'm addicted to games of all types now-- latest one is Hollywood Life on Facebook, which is a better version of MobWars. So many games-- it's almost like being a taster in an ice cream factory. I suppose I'm working, but then again-- it would seem to others that I'm not.

This is brilliant analysis IMO Dennis. Putting these newly minted and previously (to me) inexplicably "so popular - so fast" business/communication channels into the game frame really gives me insight into their growth, their sticking power, and how to use them to advantage. (Come to think of it SEO is like that too with the 200 point algo...)
Like WoW etc., it's important to know where to invest your time, and how; in order to maximize your results online. Social media becomes analogous to actions within the game. Do I build up my profession skills, my gold or my PVP rank etc? Do I spend more time leveraging LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter etc? Plus then the in game strategy for each action is critical as are leveraging tools like in game maps or auctions, social posting automation or link bulding, etc. Lots of parallels.
Thanks for this, it helps contextualize what was too complicated before.

Hi Gail-- you are so right! Time is the item that people squander and perhaps the biggest risk of social media. And with programs/sites that freely share your information, the consumer must beware.

I hope many people read this post and think about just how they decide to spend their time - time is vastly more important than money because while you can make more money you can never get more time. You can only be more conscious of how you spend yours.

One thing I never do that many people probably never even stop to think about is share someone's email address with any site. I know that many sites just love to solicit the email addresses of others we know - or even take them automatically from those who don't realize what they're clicking on. My philosophy is it is unwise to volunteer anyone for anything without at least asking them first to make sure they don't mind.
